What are the key topics for HAMAMATSU Photonics for collaborations ?
We privilege partnerships in our historical important segments like Medical and Life-science. We aim to keep and pursue our leader position in such key areas.

But also important we look further & actively to develop our collaborations networks in tomorrow’s shaping industries : Automotive, IOT & AI to name a few.

What are your favorite type of collaborations with innovative and start up companies?
One of Hamamatsu Photonics most successful segments is Academic Research. Universities have been powering innovation for a long time and they represent today an incredible chance for start-ups to bloom. So we are in a natural position to bring our photonics know-how through programs like engineers’ exchange and technology transfer and ownership. We are always interested in widening our application portfolio and knowledge so we can bring photonics as a solution to a large landscape of business problems.
Could you please give us a bit more information on the new HAMAMATSU Photonics corporate venture capital for investment to startups in early stage ?
Hamamatsu Photonics Corporate Venture Capital (CVC) is intended to achieve up to $100k worth of fund investments in start-ups. This project has a worldwide landscape, given that the field is of interest and meets our technical and business needs and projections. Through a joint-venture with the partner company, Hamamatsu Photonics can bring in financial support as well as resourceful talents. And depending on the project, carving-out, selling the business or integrating the company in Hamamatsu Photonics are all options to consider. With the CVC, we look forward to synergy with our portfolio and technologies in order to help create new business segments and sustain a profitable growth for photonics.
